By: Christie Weeks October is NATIONAL ARTS AND HUMANITIES MONTH. We in Louisiana have more to celebrate than most because of our unique culture that fascinates people around the world. Learn more about NAHM and events in Louisiana at www.americansforthearts.org/nahm and read the Presidents proclamation of NAHM at http://capwiz.com/artsusa/la/utr/0/?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.whitehouse.......gov%2Fthe-press-office%2F2010%2F10%2F01%2Fpresidenti...al-proclamation-national-arts-and-humanities-month. Consider how you can share your conviction about the importance of the arts for our economy and life in Louisiana (suggestions below are just a start!): * Write a letter to your local newspaper about Arts and Humanities Month and the value of local arts organizations and area artists * Call or write your representative and senator to thank him/her for supporting the arts. * Consider an additional donation to your favorite arts organizations * Invite a friend to an arts event in your area * Become a member of Louisiana Partnership for the Arts Advocacy Above all, celebrate and treasure all that makes Louisiana our nation's cultural treasure!
